Play safe, play smart

Responsible Gambling

At betwinner, responsible gambling is not a policy footnote — it is a core commitment. This page explains the tools, limits and support resources available to every Malaysian player who chooses to use our platform. For players aged 21 and above only.

Gambling is entertainment — keep it that way

betwinner is built for Malaysian players who enjoy sports betting and live casino games as a leisure activity. Like any form of entertainment, it is most enjoyable when approached with a clear head, a set budget and realistic expectations. Most of our players in Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya, Penang, Johor Bahru and across Malaysia use the platform responsibly and never experience problems.

But we know that for some people, gambling can shift from entertainment to something harder to control. Recognising that shift early — and having practical tools ready when you need them — makes all the difference. That is exactly what this page is for.

betwinner actively monitors platform activity for signs of problem gambling behaviour. Where indicators are identified, our responsible gambling team may reach out proactively. You do not need to wait for that contact — all the tools described here are available in your account settings right now.

Responsible gambling tools on betwinner

All of the following tools are built directly into your betwinner account. No waiting period is applied when activating a restriction — limits and exclusions take effect immediately.

Deposit Limits

Set a maximum amount you can deposit over a daily, weekly or monthly period. Once a limit is reached, further deposits are blocked until the period resets. Reducing a deposit limit takes effect immediately. Increasing a limit is subject to a 7-day cooling-off period before the higher limit becomes active — giving you time to reconsider.

Loss Limits

Set a ceiling on how much you can lose in a given time period — daily, weekly or monthly. When your net loss reaches the limit, betting and game play is suspended for the remainder of that period. As with deposit limits, reductions apply immediately and increases require a 7-day review period.

Session Time Reminders

Set a reminder notification that appears after a chosen session duration — for example, after 30 minutes, 1 hour or 2 hours of continuous play. The reminder prompts you to take a break and review your session activity. Reminders are informational only; you may continue playing after acknowledging them.

Session Time Limits (Hard Stop)

Set a hard maximum session duration. Once the chosen time is reached, your session will automatically end and you will be logged out. Unlike reminders, hard stop limits cannot be extended mid-session. You may set a new session after logging back in.

Reality Check Notifications

Enable periodic in-platform pop-up messages showing your net win/loss position and total session time at chosen intervals. Reality checks help you stay aware of your actual gambling activity without needing to check manually, especially useful during longer EPL or Liga Super Malaysia live-betting sessions.

Take a Break (Temporary Exclusion)

If you feel you need a short step away from the platform, use the Take a Break feature to block access for a fixed period: 24 hours, 72 hours, 7 days or 30 days. During this time, your account is inaccessible, no marketing communications are sent to you, and the period cannot be shortened once set.

Self-Exclusion

Self-exclusion is a longer-term option allowing you to block access to your betwinner account for a minimum of 6 months, up to a maximum of 5 years, or permanently. Self-exclusion requests are processed within one business hour of receipt. Your account is closed, your balance is returned via your registered withdrawal method, and re-registration attempts will be blocked for the full exclusion duration.

Account Closure on Request

If you wish to close your account permanently for reasons unrelated to problem gambling, you may request closure at any time through live chat or by emailing [email protected]. Any verified real-money balance will be returned to you following the standard withdrawal process.

Our principles

Six pillars of responsible gambling at betwinner

These commitments guide how we design tools, train support staff and monitor platform activity for Malaysian users.

Strict 21+ Enforcement

All users must be at least 21 years of age. Age is verified during the KYC process, and accounts suspected of belonging to underage users are suspended pending verification. We do not knowingly allow anyone under 21 to gamble on betwinner.

Proactive Monitoring

Our responsible gambling team uses automated and manual monitoring to identify account behaviour that may indicate problem gambling — such as rapid loss chasing, significant bet size escalation or frequent short deposits. Where patterns are detected, we reach out to the player directly.

Marketing Opt-out

Players who have activated any responsible gambling limit, are in a Take a Break period or have self-excluded will not receive promotional emails, bonus offers or marketing communications from betwinner. We will not attempt to re-engage excluded players with incentives.

Trained Support Staff

Our 24/7 live chat and email support teams include staff specifically trained to assist players who raise concerns about their gambling behaviour. All support conversations about responsible gambling are handled with full confidentiality and directed to senior welfare-trained agents.

Transparent Activity History

Your full account transaction and betting history is available in your account dashboard at any time. Seeing accurate records of your deposit, withdrawal and betting activity — including total net loss figures — helps you make informed decisions about your play.

Independent Support Resources

We actively refer players in distress to independent support organisations. We maintain a list of resources relevant to Malaysian users and do not position ourselves as a substitute for professional counselling or crisis support services.

Self-assessment

Is gambling still fun for you?

Most people who enjoy sports betting and casino games on betwinner never experience problems. But it is worth checking in with yourself from time to time. The questions below are based on commonly used gambling self-assessment frameworks.

This is not a clinical diagnostic tool. Its purpose is to help you reflect on your own gambling behaviour. If you answer "yes" to several of these questions, we encourage you to speak with our support team or contact one of the independent support organisations listed on this page.

You are not alone. Problem gambling affects people from all walks of life, across Kuala Lumpur, Shah Alam, Bangsar and beyond. Recognising a concern and asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

Ask yourself honestly

Reflect on your gambling activity over the past 30 days.

  • Have you gambled with money needed for rent, bills, food or family expenses?
  • Have you tried to win back money you lost by gambling more?
  • Have you felt restless, irritable or anxious when trying to reduce or stop gambling?
  • Have you borrowed money or sold something to fund gambling?
  • Have you hidden your gambling from family members or close friends?
  • Has gambling negatively affected your work, studies or personal relationships?
  • Have you spent more time or money gambling than you originally planned?
  • Have you felt that gambling is the main way you cope with stress or low mood?

If you answered "yes" to two or more of these questions, we encourage you to contact betwinner support to discuss limit-setting or self-exclusion options, or to reach out to an independent support service listed below.

Strictly for players aged 21 and above

betwinner does not permit anyone under the age of 21 to register, deposit or gamble on the platform. This is a firm rule, not a guideline. Age verification is conducted as part of the account verification process, and any account found to belong to an underage individual will be closed immediately with all deposits returned. If you are a parent or guardian concerned about a young person's gambling activity, please contact us directly.

Staying in control

Practical tips for healthy gambling habits

Small, consistent habits make the biggest difference to keeping gambling enjoyable and within healthy boundaries.

Set a budget before you start

Decide in advance how much you are comfortable spending in a session — and treat that amount as the full cost of your entertainment, the same way you would budget for a meal out or a cinema ticket. Use betwinner's deposit limit feature to lock that budget in place before you start playing.

Set a time limit

It is easy to lose track of time during live football or a casino session. Set a session time reminder — or a hard session limit — before you begin. Taking regular breaks helps you stay alert and make better decisions. The betwinner platform lets you configure both types of session control from your account settings.

Never gamble to escape stress

Gambling while upset, anxious, stressed or under the influence of alcohol tends to lead to poor decisions and higher spending. If you are going through a difficult period personally or financially, taking a break from gambling is a healthy choice. The Take a Break feature makes this easy to activate without requiring you to call anyone.

Do not chase losses

Chasing a previous loss by increasing bets is one of the most common patterns associated with problem gambling. If you find yourself thinking "I just need one big win to get back to even," that is a signal to stop for the day. Accept the loss, log out and come back another time when you are in a clearer headspace.

Keep gambling in perspective

Gambling works best as one small part of a varied and balanced life — not the central activity around which everything else is organised. If you notice that gambling is crowding out time with family, friends, exercise or other interests you value, that is worth reflecting on honestly.

Talk about it

Keeping gambling concerns to yourself makes them harder to address. Talking to someone you trust — whether a family member, a friend, a GP or a counsellor — is often the most effective first step. You can also speak confidentially with the betwinner responsible gambling team at any time.
